Endesa, one of the 32nd America’s Cup principal sponsor, commissioned Magic Monkey to design, install and manage a monumental communication solution on the Port of the America’s Cup in Valencia, Spain in 2007. The 5.4 Km perimeter of the Port was integrated with powerful sky projections, thousands of RGB LEDs and light projections on David Chipperfield’s Veles e Vents building. The thousands of LEDs positioned on the hundreds of flag masts following the water’s edge created a gigantic and transparent video display, visible from every angle of the Port.
Content for the nightly shows was created during the famous Valencia Faias, adding extra pleasure and pressure to truly touch such a sophisticated public and the millions of foreign visitors and broadcasters. Our mad composers even paid a rhythmic hommage to the local masclettas, a local daytime firework show solely based on rhythms, the crack, rattle and pop version of the flamenco. The project ran every night from April 1, 2007 to July 7, 2007, satisfied the demanding public and offered Endesa great visibility.
