KING ABDULAZIZ CENTER FOR WORLD CULTURE  •  2017  •  DAMMAM  •  SAUDI ARABIA

A permanent monumental dynamic architectural lighting project for the KACWC (King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia by Snøhetta Architects, 2017.

The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (KACWC), designed by Snøhetta Architects from Norway, is lit on a daily basis with a powerful, low energy consumption, RGBW LED system. The magic monkey lighting design offers great flexibility to the client, Saudi Aramco, to reflect ongoing events within the Center or within the Saudi Kingdom on a monumental scale visible from kilometers away. For example, on June 24, 2018, the KACWC displayed a special animated magic monkey creation to celebrate the end of Saudi Arabia’s ban on women driving.
